One more week of work

Wow, I'm officially a blogger. Just set this up to chronicle my travels around the world and around the USA during my upcoming sabbatical. I have one more hectic week of work, and then I'm gone... well, gone from work at least.

My first week will be spent painting the interior of my downtown condo and getting ready for my travels. Then I'm off to Bali for two and a half weeks! With a night in Taipei on the way back. That will be followed by a trip around the country in my Mini Cooper -- an 8500 mile trek that will take me down through California, across the Southwest, all the way east to the Blue Ridge Parkway, then up to DC, NYC, and Boston, and then back to Portland via the northern route, with stops in Michigan and Chicago.

Important upcoming dates:

• Fri 4/1 - Last day of work
• Sat 4/2 - Start painting condo
• Sat 4/2 - Legendary DJ Dave Seaman playing in Portland to kick off my sabbatical
• Fri 4/8 - Finish painting condo
• Tue 4/12 - Leave Portland for Bali
• Thu 4/14 - Arrive in Bali
• Thu 4/14-Mon 4/18 - Four nights at Hard Rock Bali on Kuta beach
• Mon 4/18-Sat 4/23 - Five nights at Ubud Village Hotel in Ubud
• Sat 4/23-Thu 4/28 - Five nights at Bounty Hotel in Kuta
• Thu 4/28 - Leave Bali for Taipei
• Thu 4/28-Fri 4/29 - One night at hotel-to-be-determined in Taipei
• Fri 4/29 - Arrive in Portland
• Sun 5/1 - Leave Portland for cross-country road trip
• Fri 5/27 - Arrive back in Portland from cross-country road trip
• Mon 5/30 - Memorial Day
• Tue 5/31 - First day back at work
